Thesify is an AI-powered academic writing assistant built on technology originally developed for HeyScience, a tool for summarizing and tracking scientific research that has since gone on hiatus in favor of this successor product. Thesify positions itself specifically for researchers and students rather than as a general-purpose chatbot, with features aimed at the stages of academic writing: manuscript feedback scored against academic rubrics for thesis strength, evidence, and clarity; a citation manager that searches more than 200 million references and inserts citations directly into a draft; and a journal recommender that suggests suitable publication venues for a finished paper. Beyond feedback, its "Thesify Coauthor" feature uses AI agents that can search academic databases, read a user's uploaded PDFs, and edit documents directly, alongside a Paper Digest tool for summarizing research and an AI chat for general writing help. The platform states it does not use personal data or uploaded documents to train its models, addressing a common concern among academic users. It works entirely in the browser, with no installation required, and reports usage by more than 30,000 academics across universities and research institutions. Access runs on a credit system rather than a flat subscription, and because the product only recently succeeded HeyScience, its long-term feature set and pricing structure are still settling.
