Chatous

Chatous is a chat platform, run by Chatous, Inc., that connects users with strangers for text and video conversations, either at random or matched by shared interests using hashtags. Users can build a profile with optional details like age, gender, location, and interests, or choose to remain anonymous by only using a display name. Beyond one-on-one text chat, the platform supports video chat and lets users share expiring photos and videos that disappear after being viewed. Users can save people they meet as friends to keep chatting later, and conversations sync across the website and the iOS and Android apps, so a chat started on the phone can continue on desktop. Chatous targets people looking for spontaneous conversations with new people rather than a dating-specific or professional networking audience; the terms of service note that users under 18 need parental approval to use the service. Access is free with account creation. The site does not describe any content moderation or safety verification measures, which is typical for anonymous stranger-chat platforms of this kind.
