Sourcegraph is a codebase intelligence platform built to help engineering teams, and increasingly AI coding agents, search, understand, and modify large codebases. Its core Code Search feature does deterministic, exhaustive search across repositories, while a newer Deep Search feature adds natural-language querying that returns cited answers drawn from the actual code. An MCP server exposes this indexed context to AI agents so they can ground their suggestions in real code rather than guesses. Beyond search, Sourcegraph offers Agentic Batch Changes for running AI-driven modifications across many repositories at once, useful for large migrations or dependency upgrades, plus Code Insights for tracking adoption and risk trends over time, and Code Monitoring that alerts teams via Slack, PagerDuty, email, or webhooks when specific code patterns change. The platform is aimed at enterprise engineering organizations working with large, complex codebases; its site lists customers such as Reddit, Stripe, Dropbox, and HubSpot. It is SOC2 Type II and ISO27001 certified, supports enterprise authentication (SSO, SAML, OAuth, SCIM), and states it retains no data beyond what's needed for LLM inference.
