Moises, made by Moises Systems, Inc. (founded in 2020), is an AI tool for musicians that separates a song into individual stems, isolating or muting vocals, drums, bass, and other instruments from an existing track. The separation is powered by a source-separation algorithm developed with Deezer and refined on licensed audio, which the company says it does not train on unlicensed material. Beyond stem separation, the app includes an AI Studio for generating additional stems, a Voice Studio for creating vocal parts modeled on real singers, a chord finder, a speed and pitch changer, and lyric transcription, plus video recording with studio-quality audio for capturing performances. Moises is built for drummers, vocalists, bassists, guitarists, producers, and music educators who want to practice along with isolated parts, remix existing songs, or study how a track is put together. It is available on the web, iOS, Android, and desktop, with a free tier offering limited monthly uploads and paid subscriptions removing those limits. The platform has been recognized with an Apple Design Awards nomination and a Microsoft Store award, and is used at institutions including Berklee College of Music. One limitation is that stem separation quality varies by song and instrument mix, since it depends on an underlying AI model rather than a true multitrack recording.
