Korewa AI

korewa.AI lets users create and chat with AI-driven anime characters. Character creation involves uploading reference images and defining personality traits, memories, and emotional expressions, which the AI then draws on to hold a conversation in that character's voice. During chats, characters display emotions through animated visual expressions in a style resembling a visual novel, and the AI retains conversation history so dialogue evolves over repeated sessions rather than resetting each time. A community-sharing feature lets users publish characters they've built so others can discover and chat with them, turning the platform into a marketplace of user-generated personas rather than a fixed catalog. A draft editor is available for testing and refining a character before publishing it. The platform is aimed at anime, manga, and light novel fans who want an interactive AI companion rather than a general-purpose chatbot. Access is web-based, with a free Demo tier offering limited messages and a weaker AI model plus access to other users' characters, and a $10/month Premium tier unlocking unlimited messages and a more advanced emotion-simulation model. korewa.AI was built and is maintained by Ruel Alarcon, a solo developer who started the project as an undergraduate at the University of Saskatchewan in 2023 — worth noting since it is an independent project rather than a funded company, which may affect scale and support compared to larger character-chat platforms.
