About Tempo

Tempo is a visual, AI-powered editor for building React applications, aimed at letting product managers, designers, and engineers collaborate on the same interface rather than handing mockups back and forth. Users describe what they want in natural language, and Tempo's agents plan a user flow and architecture before generating code, which the company says reduces wasted iterations compared to editors that jump straight into code generation. A drag-and-drop visual canvas sits alongside the generated code, and teams can import existing components from Storybook or build a custom component library inside the tool. A Figma plugin converts existing designs into working code, and projects can include pre-built templates for common SaaS building blocks like Stripe billing, Supabase or Convex/Clerk auth, and Polar payments. Generated code pushes to GitHub and works with any existing React codebase, and Tempo also supports Expo for React Native mobile projects. Tempo Labs was founded in 2023 by Kevin Michael and Peter Gokhshteyn, went through Y Combinator's Summer 2023 batch, and is based in Toronto. Pricing runs from a free tier (30 credits a month) to a Pro plan at $30 a month for 150 credits, up to a higher-usage Agent+ tier; bug fixes are free on every plan. Because output quality depends on credits and prompt planning, complex custom logic may still need manual coding.
