StarByFace
AI-powered app that identifies your celebrity lookalikes using facial recognition.
About StarByFace
StarByFace is an innovative online application that uses artificial intelligence and facial recognition technology to help users discover which celebrities they resemble. Users upload a photo or select from available images, and the app's neural network analyzes their facial features and compares them against thousands of famous faces to identify the closest matches. The tool is designed for anyone curious about their celebrity doppelgängers, from casual users seeking entertainment to those interested in facial recognition technology. The app operates through a straightforward three-step process: uploading a clear photo, facial pattern detection and analysis, and receiving celebrity lookalike results. The platform prioritizes user privacy by automatically deleting uploaded photos after recognition, only retaining images if users explicitly choose to share them.

Our verdict on StarByFace
3.0/5 · 3 sources · reviewed August 5, 2026
StarByFace is a decent-enough entertainment app when it works, but a large share of users say they cannot see a single result before paying, and several describe misleading free-trial prompts and crashes. It is fine for a quick laugh with friends, but go in expecting a hard paywall rather than a free tool, and do not expect the celebrity match to be scientifically meaningful.
What users praise
- When the match lands, users describe the result as genuinely fun and close enough to be worth sharing with friends.
- The tool had a real viral moment when a celebrity posted her own result online, and that single post helped spark a wider social media challenge around it.
What users complain about
- The most common complaint by a wide margin is that the app will not show a single result without a subscription first, with several reviewers saying there is no genuine free trial in practice, only an immediate payment prompt.
- Multiple reviewers describe the advertised free trial as collecting personal details, such as email, name and phone number through a required ad, without ever delivering a usable result.
- Some users report the app crashing back to the home screen or getting stuck during setup before they can even reach the matching feature.
- Match quality is inconsistent: accounts describe results ranging from close matches to obviously wrong, unrelated ones with no clear pattern to when it works.
Not for: Anyone expecting a free tool or a scientifically accurate face match should skip it, since reviewers consistently report having to pay before seeing any result at all.
How it compares
- Cinemashle — If the appeal is just a quick, free bit of fun, Cinemashle's daily guessing game does not require a payment prompt or personal details just to see a first result, which is a recurring complaint against StarByFace.
