Knowable

Knowable is an AI tutoring application that watches students work through homework using a Mac's camera, then offers real-time coaching as they write on paper or read from a textbook. Rather than supplying direct answers, the system guides students toward solutions with hints delivered through a live interface called Desk View, covering high school subjects including math, science, English, history, and languages. The tool is aimed at three groups: students who want homework help and exam preparation, parents looking for a cheaper alternative to hourly private tutors, and teachers who can set up classes to track student progress over time. It runs in Safari with no download required on macOS Ventura or later, and is also listed on the Mac App Store. Knowable uses a credit system for pricing: a free tier includes 1,000 credits a month, while the paid Knowable Plus plan adds 10,000 monthly credits for $24.99/month or $249.99/year, with one-time credit packs also available. One limitation is that the camera-based workflow depends on a Mac and requires students to physically write or read in view of the camera, which won't suit fully digital or mobile-first study habits.
