Instar

Instar is an open-source framework that extends Claude Code into agents capable of remembering context across sessions instead of starting fresh each time. It stores memory using SQLite with full-text search, and applies identity-persistence hooks so an agent restarts with the same personality and history rather than a blank slate. A "Coherence Gate" checks new statements against past ones to catch contradictions before they reach the user, and a commitment-tracking system follows up on tasks the agent promised to do, sending overdue nudges when needed. The project includes a cron-based job scheduler for running agents on a recurring basis, layered safety gates with adaptive trust levels per connected service, and an evolution system through which agents can propose improvements to their own setup. It connects to Telegram, WhatsApp, and other messaging platforms, resolving a user's identity consistently across them. Instar is built by SageMind AI and runs on top of real Claude Code (or Codex) sessions rather than a separate model, so it inherits whatever tools Anthropic ships. It targets developers and teams who want an autonomous personal or project assistant that persists over weeks and months rather than a single conversation. Since it depends on an existing Claude Code or Codex subscription, it is not a standalone AI model.
