## Overview
Gradio is an open-source Python library for building web interfaces around machine learning models, APIs, or any Python function, without writing frontend code. A developer wraps an existing function in a few lines of Python, and Gradio generates a browser-based interface with matching input and output components, covering more than 40 data types including images, audio, video, 3D models, dataframes, text, and chat.

The project was first released in 2019, originally built to let researchers demo computer vision models without a web development background, and it was later acquired by Hugging Face, which continues to develop it. A finished interface can be shared instantly through a temporary public link generated from a local machine, or hosted permanently on Hugging Face Spaces with automatic scaling. A JavaScript client is also available for applications that need to call an existing Gradio app from outside Python. According to Hugging Face, Gradio is used by more than a million developers each month.

Because Gradio is a Python library rather than a hosted product, using it requires writing and running Python code; teams without a Python-based backend or ML pipeline will need a different approach to expose a model through a shareable interface.
## Key Features
- 40+ prebuilt UI components for ML demos
- Instant shareable public links for local demos
- Permanent hosting on Hugging Face Spaces with autoscaling
- JavaScript client for consuming Gradio apps
- Simple Python API requiring no frontend code

## Use Cases
- Build a web demo for a machine learning model in a few lines of Python
- Share a local ML prototype with a public link for feedback
- Host a permanent ML demo on Hugging Face Spaces

## Who It Is For
- Machine learning engineers
- Data scientists
- AI researchers
- Developers who want to share their models easily

## Pros
- Extremely easy and fast to set up interactive demos for ML models.
- Requires minimal coding, focusing solely on Python.
- Allows for effortless sharing of models with a generated public link.
- Supports a wide range of input and output types for diverse applications.

## Cons
- Less customization options for UI compared to building a custom web application.
- Performance can be limited by the underlying Python function's execution time.
- Not designed for complex, production-ready web applications.
