EyeGestures

EyeGestures is an open-source gaze-tracking library that turns a standard webcam into an eye-tracking input device, without requiring specialized hardware. It ships as both Python and JavaScript implementations, so developers can run it on a server, in a desktop application, or directly in a web browser. A built-in calibration mode displays a series of on-screen targets for the user to focus on, which the library uses to learn how that person's gaze maps to screen coordinates. The project is aimed at developers and researchers building gaze-driven interfaces or running eye-tracking studies, particularly where the cost of dedicated eye-tracking hardware would be a barrier. It is supported in part by an organization focused on affordable eye-tracking for people with disabilities, positioning accessibility as one of its core goals alongside general-purpose interface development. The core library is free and open source, with a commercial license available for organizations that want to avoid its GPL3 terms, plus custom integration and managed services. Because it relies on consumer webcams rather than dedicated infrared eye trackers, accuracy is inherently more limited than purpose-built hardware, which the project accepts as a tradeoff for accessibility.
