Capit

Capit is an app that generates ready-to-post social media captions from a photo or video. Users pick an image or clip, choose a tone such as funny, inspirational, poetic, or casual, and the app returns five captions built around that content and tone. It runs on OpenAI's GPT-4o (the app previously used GPT-4V), which reads the image or video to produce captions meant to match the context and mood of what was uploaded, rather than generic text. Beyond caption generation, Capit includes a built-in editor for adjusting caption spacing and hashtags, an AI Write feature for generating text from a short description, profile saving so users can keep separate settings for different social accounts, and a share sheet for posting directly from other apps. It targets content creators, marketers, and everyday social media users who want quick caption ideas without writing them from scratch. Capit is currently available on iPhone, iPad, and Mac, with Android and web versions listed as planned but not yet released. It relies on third-party services including Google Analytics for Firebase, Firebase Crashlytics, and RevenueCat for subscriptions. Because it depends on OpenAI's vision model, caption quality and availability are tied to that underlying service.
