Beauty.AI is a beauty contest judged entirely by artificial intelligence rather than human judges. Participants submit selfies through the platform, and machine learning algorithms score entries against measurable facial parameters, including symmetry, wrinkles, skin quality, and estimated age, rather than a subjective sense of attractiveness. A second track, the "Robot Jury Challenge," invites data scientists to submit their own scoring algorithms, which are then evaluated against one another as part of the contest. The project was created by Youth Laboratories, a team the site describes as biogerontologists and data scientists, and it frames beauty scoring as connected to health: the stated premise is that healthy people tend to look more attractive, and that facial analysis could eventually surface useful health signals. Contest rules ask entrants to submit photos without makeup, beards, or glasses to keep judging conditions consistent. Beauty.AI has run multiple contest cycles since its first edition around 2016, drawing tens of thousands of entries, and has partnered with organizations including NVIDIA. Its first contest drew public criticism after the AI-selected finalists skewed heavily toward one ethnicity, an outcome widely attributed to bias in the training data used by the submitted algorithms rather than any single decision by the platform itself.
